The Guam Environmental Protection Agency (Guam EPA), along with partners in the Environmental Education Subcommittee of the Guam Watershed Planning Committee, is seeking nominations for this year's Environmental Stewardship Awards.
The Environmental Stewardship Award program recognizes individuals, businesses or community groups who have mad significant contributions to protecting and improving Guam's environment this past year. Anyone, of any age can be nominated for this award.
"This program gives us a chance to say, 'Thank you,' to all those who go the extra step to improve our environment," said Lorliee T. Cristosomo, administrator of Guam EPA. "We all need to follow their example to ensure future generations on Guam have a clean and healthy island to call their own."
Environmental stewards include companies who have implemented recycling programs and student groups who spend their weekends cleaning up beaches.
Nomination forms can be found here and must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2007. Forms can be dropped at Guam EPA's main office in Tiyan or faxed to Peggy Denney at 477-9402. They can also be scanned and emailed to Peggy.Denney@guamepa.net.
The awards will be presented at the Earth Week Island Pride Festival on Saturday, April 21, at Gov. Joseph Flores Beach Park (Ypao Beach) in Tumon.
